Commander, President Joe Biden’s 2-year-old German Shepherd, is currently off the White House campus following a series of incidents.

He bit White House staff and Secret Service agents, according to Elizabeth Alexander, Communications Director for First Lady Jill Biden.

The news about the current US president’s pet was announced last Wednesday, October 4.

The safety of White House staff, as well as those tasked with protecting them, has raised significant concern for the President and First Lady.

Joe and Jill Biden appreciate the patience and support of the Secret Service as they contemplate the next steps.

The spokesperson did not specify where Commander was sent after his last appearance on Saturday on one of the upper balconies of the White House.

This comes after a new accusation that the dog bit a White House worker became public.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre fielded questions about the incident during her daily briefing on Wednesday and directed them to the office of the First Lady.

According to The Associated Press, Alexander’s statement was issued hours after Commander’s latest incident became known.

In which he bit a uniformed Secret Service agent inside the White House, which occurred on September 25.

In response to these events, the first lady’s communications director mentioned that the White House can be a stressful place for family pets.

Plus the Bidens are working to help Commander deal with the often unpredictable nature of the White House grounds.

Department of Homeland Security records reveal that Commander has been involved in at least 10 incidents, biting U.S. Secret Service personnel.

According to the AP, the Bidens’ first dog, Major, also a German shepherd, was sent to live with family friends in Delaware following similar incidents.

Commander, a gift to the president from his brother James in December 2021, continues to be a focal point in the search for solutions.

This effort aims to guarantee the safety and well-being of those who live and work in the White House.
