The investigation accumulated evidence and crucial information that pointed towards García-Rodríguez’s involvement in María González’s death.

With compelling connections established between the suspect and the crime, authorities are set to file capital murder charges against him, according to official reports.

Efforts are underway to extradite García-Rodríguez to Texas, where he will face the legal consequences for his alleged crimes against the young victim.

Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger acknowledged that García-Rodríguez wasn’t initially under suspicion on the day María’s body was discovered.

Meticulous forensic investigation and DNA analysis proved pivotal in moving the case forward.

Detectives questioned the suspect and collected DNA evidence during an interview that took place shortly after the discovery of the tragic event.

Bruegger emphasized that García-Rodríguez’s name didn’t stand out during the initial stages of the investigation.

Authorities were exploring multiple leads in pursuit of the truth.

Bruegger said that critical evidence came to light during the examination of María’s residence.

An essential discovery was made in the form of a single key found at the crime scene, which turned out to be a significant breakthrough.

This key did not belong to María’s residence; instead, it opened the door to a different apartment where García-Rodríguez had been residing.

He was staying in that apartment with two other people, according to the police.

María González’s lifeless was discovered under a bed in the apartment on August 12, shortly after 3 pm. Her father, Carlos González, returned home from work to find the heartbreaking scene.

The young girl had called her father, alerting him about someone knocking on their door. Carlos González instructed his daughter not to open the door. It’s not clear whether she obeyed him.

Investigators determined that there were no signs of forced entry into their apartment at 1004 Main Street, according to El Diario NY.

Juan Carlos García-Rodríguez, is reported to be a Guatemalan national who is in the United States illegally, according to KHOU.

He was detained by the US Customs and Border Protection and subsequently handed over to sponsors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

It was there that his sponsors contacted their connections in Pasadena and told them Garcia-Rodriguez needed a job and a place to stay.

This led him to the apartment complex where the tragic incident occurred.

Tragically, García-Rodríguez ended up in the same apartment complex where the young girl was murdered.
