A shocking statement has emerged before the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the United States will request the extradition of the remaining children of drug trafficker Joaquín «el Chapo» Guzmán.

Their children are known as the «chapitos,» EFE reported in a statement.

This decision follows the successful extradition of Ovidio Guzmán on September 15, and marks a bold step in the fight against cross-border drug trafficking.

The United States has made a decision that could be a problem for Mexico in future decisions.

The «chapitos» are the four living children of the leader of the Sinaloa cartel.

In addition to Ovidio Guzmán, they include Iván Archibaldo Guzmán, Jesús Alfredo Guzmán and Joaquín Guzmán.

The fifth son, Édgar Guzmán, was tragically murdered in 2008.

The four brothers have been accused by US authorities of participating in the systematic smuggling of tons of cocaine.

EFE indicated that the drugs were transported through South and Central America to the United States.

The request for the extradition of these individuals marks a significant development in the complex relationship between the United States and Mexico in the fight against drug trafficking.

Although Garland declined to call the current collaboration «good,» his statement suggests that the United States is committed to pursuing those responsible.

The extradition of Ovidio Guzmán led to the death of several Mexican sailors in a violent confrontation.

The issue is a point of contention in the bilateral relationship between the United States and Mexico. Addressing this tension, Garland stated, «They have obviously cooperated with us regarding Ovid.

His capture by the Mexicans resulted in the death of a significant number of Mexican sailors,» he said.

The attorney general emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation and the need to enhance it.

«We have a serious problem with fentanyl that originates from and is produced in Mexico,» Garland warned, according to EFE reports.

This substance has exacerbated the opioid crisis in the United States, underscoring the importance of collaboration in the fight against its distribution.

The United States’ commitment to the extradition of the «chapitos» suggests the US authorities’ determination in pursuing key drug trafficking figures.

Garland concluded his statement with a look at his personal efforts to foster cooperation with Mexico.

«I’ve made two trips to Mexico to seek cooperation,» he revealed.

As this evolving story unfolds, it remains to be seen how Mexico will respond to the “chapitos” extradition request.
