Officer Nix turned on all of his sirens and lights and ordered the driver of the Chevy Caprice to stop. Then Wesley Lynn Ruiz made the decision that sentenced him to death. Another patrol joined the frantic pursuit of the suspicious vehicle driven by the gang member.

During the high-speed chase, Wesley Lynn Ruiz hit a curb and promptly lost control of the Chevy Caprice, speeding up a sloping meadow next to the road. The only patrol car that followed the gang member’s car was that of Officer Mark Nix.

Due to the blow and the rise of the slope, Wesley Lynn Ruiz’s car was stranded. Patrolman Mark Nix fearlessly jumped out of his squad car, armed only with his metal baton, and ran the Chevy Caprice. His life was ended in an instant with a hail of bullets.
