ATF’s Washington Field Division was on scene assisting police in the ongoing investigation of the shooting. According to the DC Police Union, this is the sixth mass shooting in the city so far this year, ABC News reported. When asked about the community’s frustration with violent crime continuing to happen, Robert Contee responded that he was frustrated as well.

“(The residents) did not deserve shootings in the communities where they live. I am sad because I know of all the investments the city has made in violence interruption efforts. We have people in our communities who have just lost their sense of humanity. And that really saddens me,” added the police chief.
