- Apple Watch Series 8 could detect if you have a fever.
- Series 8 could also include an updated screen.
- Rumor has it that Apple is creating another version of Series 8 for extreme athletes.
The next Apple Watch will reportedly include a body temperature sensor that will alert you when you have a fever, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The Series 8 will not provide an exact reading, but it could send a notification suggesting you to see a doctor or use a thermometer.
This is not the first time that Gurman has mentioned the possibility of the Series 8 including a temperature sensor. He first mentioned that Apple was working on the feature in June 2021, and reported that it would likely arrive with the line of laptop devices by 2022.
Series 8 could include an updated screen

He backed off that prediction in January, warning fans that body temperature sensing was among a handful of capabilities that were a few years away.
However, a few months later, he said the Series 8 would include a body temperature sensor, as long as the feature passed Apple’s internal testing guidelines. Filed Under: Apple Watch Series 8.
Another version of Series 8 for extreme athletes?

In the latest issue of his Power On newsletter, Gurman says he thinks the feature is «an opportunity» for the standard Series 8 and a rugged edition of the Apple Watch is rumored to be coming for extreme athletes.
Gurman says other changes to the 8 Series «will likely be minor.» Reiterating his report from last week, he suggests that the handheld will pack the same processing power as the Series 7 and Series 6. Filed Under: Apple Watch Series 8.
AirPods Pro will not have many updates

He also mentions that higher-end Series 8 models could include an updated screen. Another device that reportedly won’t come with many updates is the second-generation AirPods Pro.
Gurman writes that they won’t include heart rate or body temperature monitoring features, as some reported. «I was told that neither feature is likely to arrive in the 2022 update, although both enhancements have been explored within the company and could arrive one day,» Gurman said.
