Sergio Gómez, who was the vocalist for K-Paz de la Sierra, was murdered on December 2, 2007. Fourteen years after his death, questions linger since his case was never resolved. Some rumors suggest that he was kidnapped by a criminal organization and later tortured and killed.

In the middle of 2022, it is still not known with certainty what the vocalist of the grupera genre group went through in the last hours of his life. But some photographs of his body when it was found have been revealed. The reason for his horrific death is still unknown.

The K-Paz de la Sierra group had just finished a performance in the city of Morelia and they decided to split up into several vans to get to their next destination. Sergio Gómez got into one of the vehicles accompanied by two businessmen, Víctor Hugo Sánchez and Javier Rivera.

According to the Mexican outlet msn, in the middle of the road, they were approached by armed men who kidnapped the singer and his companions. Hours later, the businessmen were released but there was no information on the whereabouts of Sergio Gómez.

After several days, photos of the body of the vocalist of the grupera group were released by Mexican authorities, sparking panic among Sergio Gómez’s fans because of their graphic nature. No one expected him to end up like this.

Most show the body where it was found on the side of the road. He was located just hours after being reported missing. This crime is still unpunished, as it has not been solved in the more than 14 years since it happened in December 2007.

How was Sergio Gómez murdered?

The morning after the kidnapping, the singer’s body was found with apparent signs of torture. One of the unconfirmed versions circulating on social media about the death of the K-Paz de la Sierra singer has to do with a threat from a criminal group.

Presumably the drug trafficker Nazario Moreno González, known as ‘El Chayo’, ordered the murder of Sergio Gómez. This was supposedly due to the fact that K-Paz de la Sierra allegedly performed for the criminal group, Los Zetas. The reasons were never known.

The person responsible was never found

The body of Sergio Gómez of K-Paz de la Sierra was found on December 3, 2007 and his death became one of the crimes that shocked grupera music in Mexico. His murder is one in the long list of unsolved homicides in Mexico and today his fans and family remember him.

Apparently Moreno González had sent threats to Gómez, but he paid no attention. It is assumed that this was why the singer was murdered. More than fourteen years after the murder, the artist’s fans and family still criticize the authorities for not making any progress in the investigation.
