Some Latin Americans have begun trending on TikTok by describing bad experiences they’ve had while traveling abroad.
It turns out that some people think certain foreigners have an unpleasant body odor.
Recently, some Mexican travelers took to TikTok to talk about their experience and ended up learning about what others think about how they smell.
It seems many people who saw the video agreed that Mexicans have a distinct odor. What could it be?
A bad trip to Canada
TikTok user @zuryvillarr shared a strange story about body odor she experienced during her trip to Canada.
She pointed out that people who travel always return home with unique stories and, in this case, she had a particularly strange one.
On October 24, after an embarrassing encounter, she realized that some people from other countries think Mexicans have a distinct odor.
It all started when she and her brother were taking a taxi from the airport.
Do people from some other countries smell bad?
Zury explained that when getting into the taxi, both she and her brother commented to each other that the driver, who was from India, «had a slight peculiar aroma.»
They were whispering in Spanish, believing that the driver couldn’t understand what they were saying.
However, when he got upset and responded to them, they realized he could understand everything they were saying.
To their surprise, he told them that Mexicans smell too.

«We never realized that this person spoke Spanish,» said the TikToker.
«Then he realized what we were talking about. He turned around and told us, ‘Mexicans smell like cow’s milk!’” she continued.
«I don’t know what made me more sad — he heard what I told him or that we smell like cow’s milk,» said the girl who’s video went viral.
After her video received millions of views, a debate broke out among TikTok users.
Some Mexicans thought it was funny
Zury’s video managed to exceed 1.4 million views, and people shared their opinions in the comments.
Initially, those who found it funny and were not offended by the taxi driver’s comment were the first to respond.
Instead, they said it wasn’t an insult because they don’t think it’s bad to smell like milk.
In fact, they pointed out that Europeans have a reputation for not bathing regularly and have been said to have body odor.
Babies smell like milk
Some commented: «Yes we smell like milk and corn, we practically smell like a plate of ‘confleis’.» «Well as long as it’s not spoiled milk everything is fine.»
