The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall of David Oppenheimer and Company organic green kiwi.

According to the recent press release, the organic green kiwi that the company sells will be withdrawn from the market.

They assure that it could be a case of contamination by listeria and ask for the support of consumers to avoid illnesses.

At the moment, the corresponding authorities indicated that the product is distributed in 14 states of the country.

In a surprising turn of events, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a mass recall of David Oppenheimer and Company fruit.

Their recent press release states that the company’s popular organic green kiwifruit being recalled due to possible contamination.

«David Oppenheimer and Company I LLC voluntarily recalls all one-pound containers of organic green kiwifruit from the market,» they stated.

The decision to withdraw this product from the market has been made in order to protect public health and prevent possible disease outbreaks.

It is suspected that the fruit could be contaminated with Listeria, a dangerous pathogen that can cause severe illness in consumers.

«[The recall is being made] because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes,» the FDA said in the statement.

Listeria is a bacteria that can cause severe symptoms so consumers are being asked to dispose of the fruit.

«Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail, or elderly people,» the FDA reported.

In addition to warning about possible infection, the authorities shared possible symptoms.

«Healthy people may experience only short-term symptoms, such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea,» they noted.

«Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,» the FDA added.

In the statement, the FDA revealed that the product is grown in New Zealand and is shipped to the US to be repackaged locally.

“The recalled organic green kiwis are grown in New Zealand, exported to North America and repackaged locally for sale,” they stated.

Authorities recommend that consumers who have recently purchased this product refrain from consuming it.

«The organic green kiwis subject to the voluntary recall were shipped between June 14, 2023 and July 7, 2023,» they reported.

The repercussions of this green kiwi recall are being felt in all 14 states where it was sold.

«They were sold in clear packaging at retail stores in FL, GA, IL, IN, KY, MI, NC, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, and WI,» the statement concluded.
