José Gutiérrez Rosales, 49, a resident of California, said that while they were working on April 18, he beat his co-worker Héctor Javier Castañeda Vásquez, 56, to death with an irrigation pipe because he believed he was having an affair with his estranged wife, according to details of the murder that were revealed last week.

«We were there picking up the pipes,» José Gutiérrez Rosales told Kern County Sheriff’s investigators, according to KGET, citing court documents. «I ate about two tacos, and I felt my body like strange, and then all of a sudden, I grabbed the pipe, and I just started going at him.»

Witnesses and co-workers identified José Gutiérrez Rosales as the murderer and he was arrested on April 28 and charged with first-degree murder, KGET said. After killing Héctor Javier Castañeda Vásquez, the perpetrator fled in his car, but finally abandoned the vehicle and began to walk towards Bakersfield, according to court documents.

José Gutiérrez Rosales asked God for forgiveness and began to cut himself with a box cutter, according to the outlet.
