John Easterling explained that actress Olivia Newton-John, 73, died on Monday morning at her California ranch. In the post that he shared with his wife’s fans, he explained that the actress had a difficult battle with cancer for 30 years. Easterling did not disclose exactly how she died, but cancer was apparently one of the causes.

“Olivia has been a symbol of triumph and hope for more than 30 years sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and her pioneering experience with medicinal plants continue with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to research on medicinal plants and cancer,” he said.

Olivia Newton-John was open about her experiences with cancer and said that she was first diagnosed in 1992. At first, the actress fought against breast cancer and managed to triumph against the disease. Unfortunately, in 2013 the cancer returned to her life.

Then the cancer reappeared for the third time in 2017. The Australian actress reported that, on that occasion, the cancer reached her spine more aggressively than the previous two bouts. This led Newton-John to start a foundation with the purpose of finding a cure and developing plant-based treatments.
