THE LATEST: More than 50 shots were heard near an abandoned naval base. Since last May, and after the Buffalo and Uvalde massacres, outrage over gun laws has grown throughout the country, sparking thousands of Americans to march in protest and legislators to finally cooperate on addressing gun control.

Now the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) was called to the scene of a shooting that occurred in the Baywater area. This happened after multiple shots were reported near a US Marine Corps Support Facility.

Multiple shots and an arrest are confirmed after the shooting

According to WGNO, the military support facility is abandoned. The local news outlet got reports of the shooting at 4400 Dauphine Street around 9 p.m. Multiple people have been arrested after the incident where more than 50 shots were reported.

This was revealed in a NOPD report obtained by WGNO around 10 p.m. The police department continued to investigate the scene. A review by #MundoNow could not find any statement about the shooting on the official police website at the time of writing this article.

Were there any injuries in the shooting at the abandoned naval base?

On the other hand, no injuries or deaths have been confirmed as a result of this shooting. It is still unknown what triggered the violence at the naval base. The city of New Orleans bought the abandoned naval base shortly after the Navy closed it in 2011, according to The Sun.

In addition to this case, four people, one of them a minor, were killed Tuesday in an apparent case of «murder-suicide» in a house in the town of Casselberry, north of Orlando, Florida, according to the authorities.

After receiving a 911 call, officers from the Casselberry Police Department (CPD) found four people with gunshot wounds inside an apartment in the Coawood Court development. Two of the victims were men, one of them a child, and the other two were women, according to an official report.

There were no survivors

Paramedics from the Seminole County Fire Department, who attended the scene along with officers from the Sheriff’s Office, transported at least one injured person to the hospital, but ultimately none of the victims survived.
