Daniel Sancho, son of renowned Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, has been arrested for a grisly murder.

It’s unclear why he murdered his lover, Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta.

The 29-year-old Spanish chef has been in provisional detention since last Monday.

Now he has opted to disclose what drove him to kill and dismember Edwin Arrieta in Thailand.

Daniel Sancho confesses to murder

Daniel Sancho, the son of Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, has been arrested for murder.

While authorities initially lacked comprehensive details of the incident, there was much speculation about what happened.

Now, the 29-year-old chef has begun offering insights into the crime that occurred on Koh Phangan Island.

According to the Bangkok Post, he has confessed to the murder.

Edwin Arietta was Daniel Sancho’s lover

According to the outlet, Sancho said he had been in a romantic relationship with Arietta for over a year.

He further disclosed that the Colombian surgeon had given him 10,000 euros to open a restaurant in Spain.

However, that wasn’t the extent of Edwin Arrieta’s gifts. He also reportedly gave Sancho a credit card.

Sancho gave police details about what led to the terrible incident.

Sancho is charged with premeditated murder

The Bangkok Post reports that Daniel Sancho said the murder was an accident.

However, police believe Sancho lured the Colombian plastic surgeon to Koh Phangan Island.

The two had attended the Thai Full Moon Party that night.

Police say Sancho bought knives and cleaning supplies prior to the murder.

Edwin Arrieta’s murder

Sancho claimed to have reserved a hotel room where he and Arrieta spent the night of July 31.

A second room was booked at the Hat Salat Hotel, where he reportedly stored the tools for the murder.

On August 3 that Edwin and Daniel met up and toured the island before returning to Hat Salat together.

It was here that, according to Sancho, Arrieta made unwanted sexual advances, leading to a fight.

The timeline of the murder

Daniel Sancho says he punched Arietta in an attempt to fend off his advances and he lost consciousness.

Sancho reportedly waited for an hour for Arrieta to wake up.

Finally, when he didn’t stir, the Spanish chef decided to end the Colombian surgeon’s life.

In a chilling revelation, Daniel Sancho admitted not only to the murder but also to dismembering his victim.

Daniel Sancho is in custody

Following his arrest, Daniel Sancho cooperated with authorities, offering a comprehensive account of what happened.

During his confession, the Spanish chef admitted cutting Edwin Arrieta into fourteen pieces.

Sancho was transferred from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui to testify before a judge on Monday, August 7.

Following his testimony, he was placed under provisional arrest pending trial, according to the Bangkok Post.
