Actress suffers a rare side effect from Covid vaccine

Stewart’s stroke is attributed to a rare side effect of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which she received in May 2021 in the United Kingdom.

The actress developed blood clots after getting the vaccine.

This resulted in a stroke that affected her ability to speak and walk, according to NY Breaking.

Stewart, along with others who experienced damaging side effects, is taking AstraZeneca to court, arguing that the government misled them.

The Australian actress received her first dose of the Covid vaccine on May 24, 2021 at the Sandown Park Vaccination Center in London.

Her husband, Ben Lewis, also an actor, stopped working to take care of his wife.

Although the couple does not consider themselves anti-vax, they feel they were misinformed about the safety of that particular vaccine.

They received $146,000 from the government, but they consider this amount to be far below what they’ve lost.

Stewart’s long recovery

The couple currently resides in Brisbane, where they can receive support from family and friends.  They have also started a fundraiser.

AstraZeneca has expressed sympathy for anyone who has suffered an averse effect from their vaccine.

The company also reiterated that its Covid vaccine, Vaxzevria, has been shown to be safe.

However, Stewart was diagnosed with Vaccine-Induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (VITT).

The family of the beloved actress has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds.

«Melle Stewart was a healthy, talented 40-year old Australian actor living and working in London with her husband, actor Ben Lewis,» the description reads.

«14 days after receiving her first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, Melle woke up at midnight to a strange feeling on the right-hand side of her body.»

«She tried to get out of bed but quickly collapsed.»

Stewart is lucky to be alive

«Melle was rushed to hospital where her condition quickly deteriorated, losing all movement on the right-hand side of her body as well as her ability to speak,» it continues.

«She began having seizures and was taken by ambulance to St George’s Hospital, London,» the family said on the GoFundMe campaign.

«[N]eurosurgeons battled to save her life, removing a large part of her skull to reduce the pressure in her brain.»
