Among the Oscar nominees in 2024 are four Hispanics with distinguished careers in the film industry. Who are they?

On Tuesday, January 23, that the 2024 Oscar nominations were announced.

There were four Hispanics nominated for Oscars this year.

Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, is expected to be one of the big winners. However, anything can happen, as previous Academy Awards have proven.

Once again, the ceremony will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who recently appeared in a fun promo for the event.

Past Lives is an audience favorite

It could be said that, of the four Hispanics nominated for Oscars this year, one went practically unnoticed by many.

This is David Hinojosa, who along with Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler, is a producer of Past Lives, which is nominated for Best Picture.

Of Puerto Rican and Mexican descent, David has produced films like Death Death Death in 2022 and Zola in 2020.

As for Past Lives, this film «examines multiculturalism in an emotional and honest way.» It is directed by Celine Song and is simply captivating.

Who is nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award?

On the other hand, among the Hispanics nominated Oscars in 2024 is actor Colman Domingo for the movie Rustin.

Although he was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this actor is of Belizean descent, as well as having roots in Guatemala.

Domingo also had a prominent role in the film The Color Purple, where he played the character Mister.

Many remember him for his role in the series Fear of the Walking Dead, where he portrayed Victor Strand. Winning the Oscar would be a surprise.

Perhaps his name is not as well-known as directors Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro G. Iñarritu or Alfonso Cuarón.

However, Rodrigo Prieto is a renowned cinematographer who is among the Hispanics nominated for Oscars in 2024 for his work on Moon Killers.

It is worth noting that he is also the mastermind behind the pink tones in the Barbie movie. That’s how spectacular his work is.

Previously, he was nominated for his work on films such as Brokeback Mountain, Silence and The Irishman — the latter two were directed by Martin Scorsese.

So who are the nominees to win the 2024 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress?

Emily Blunt is nominated for Oppenheimer, Da’Vine Joy Randolph for The Ones Who Stay’ Jodie Foster for Nyad and Danielle Brooks for The Color Purple.

America Ferrera is also nominated for Barbie, the highest-grossing movie of 2023. Originally from Los Angeles, she has Honduran roots.

This is the first time she has been nominated for an Academy Award, although she has already won an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for her role in Ugly Betty.
