Following a concert in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, Chalino Sánchez was murdered on May 16, 1992.

The singer was found by the side of the road with two gunshot wounds to the back of his head.

Over 30 years after this tragic event, it’s come to light that something that happened to his sister years ago is related to this incident.

A day before the murder, on May 15, 1992, Chalino Sánchez performed at the Salón Bugambilias in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

Just as he was performing the song ‘Alma Enamorada,’ he received a note containing an alleged death threat.

In a video taken that night, it is evident that his expression changes.

After finishing his show, he told his staff about this threat and that he would take refuge in a residence. However, he was intercepted by people dressed as police.

Chalino Sánchez witnessed a murder

There are several hypotheses regarding the murder of Chalino Sánchez, who would have turned 32 in a few months.

It could be said that he was an overnight success. Every venue where he performed was sold out. However, that did not save him from death.

According to Marca, the singer witnessed a murder that he reported to the police.

For this reason, he was targeted by several cartels so he had no choice but to flee to the United States after he received death threats.

What happened to Chalino Sánchez’s sister?

However some say Chalino Sánchez went to the United States for a very different reason.

According to Marca, his sister was raped by an important member of a cartel.

For this reason, the ‘Nieves de Enero’ and ‘El Sapo,’ singer, who was only 17 years old at the time, took revenge on his own.

This was before he became famous.

Was he wrong to return to Mexico?

As mentioned earlier, the singer had become successful in the U.S.

For this reason, those close to him did not see the point in him returning to Mexico, much less to Culiacán, Sinaloa.

However, the singer did not listen and believed that he was no longer in danger after Chalino Sánchez’s sister was raped.

Unfortunately, this was not the case, and it is believed that the man who committed the murder he witnessed sent his henchmen to kill him.

Here, Chalino Sánchez’s sister, Juana, confirmed that the singer had avenged her rape: «He was still my hero and my partner.»

On the other hand, his brothers, Régulo and Francisco, also gave their version of events, according to infobae.

«The problem we had in Las Flechas was because of my sister, he fought for her,» said Régulo Sánchez.
