On Monday, January 22, the Coahuila Attorney General’s Office provided details regarding the ongoing investigation into the truck that drove into soccer fans after a match.

The tragic incident that claimed the life of one woman, who was a Rayados fan, occurred near the TSM Corona Stadium in Coahuila, Mexico.

In the press conference, officials revealed that the owners of the vehicle in question are a couple, and initial investigations point to a man being the driver.

His wife, who is believed to be a passenger, was identified as Jennifer Rangel.

One of the suspects has a Texas driver’s license

According to Francisco Villalobos, correspondent for López Dóriga in the United States, Jennifer Rangel has a Texas driver’s license.

It is important to note that it is currently unknown if she or her husband are U.S. citizens.

It was also reported that the vehicle has Texas plates. Meanwhile, Coahuila authorities are still investigating the case.

The Coahuila Attorney General’s Office set a 48-hour deadline for the integration of the investigation file.

It is expected that the preliminary investigation will conclude in the next 72 hours, and more details about the suspects will come to light.

Coahuila Attorney General Márquez Guevara, announced that the case will involve murder and assault charges.

It is anticipated that in the coming days, the Public Ministry will determine if the truck drove into soccer fans intentionally or if it was a tragic accident.

Román Alberto Cepeda González, the mayor of Torreón, confirmed that seven people have been detained in connection with the incident outside the TSM complex.

The mayor of Torreón said of the of the arrests that there were «five by the Municipal Public Security Directorate and two by the State Police.»

«We have 15 cameras, in addition to those of the C2 and C4, and and the Municipality is doing everything possible to determine the facts,» he said.

So far, the identities of the other six detainees have not been released, only the information about Jennifer Rangel because of her driver’s license.

Telediario pointed out that although she is a suspect in the incident, her husband is believed to be the driver of the truck.

It is believed that a man, whose identity is unknown, was driving the truck that ran over the soccer fans.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the terrible tragedy involving several Rayados fans.

Information about the rest of those who have been detained because of the fatal accident is expected to be shared in the next few hours.

The case continues to receive national attention, and cooperation between Mexican and U.S. authorities is expected to provide answers to the affected families.

Graphic images are circulating on social media, showing the victims lying on the ground after the impact.

Emilio Jared, a 14-year-old boy whose mother was killed in the incident described the chaos: «They ran over me along with my mom and Tavo, my dad.»

«Santos fans ran us over. They started it, and we were eating corn, but suddenly the truck came, and they ran us over,» he said.
