Barbie and Oppenheimer, the two big box office smashes of the year, captured the majority of nominations for the 81st  Golden Globe Awards, with nine and eight respectively.

Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Poor Things by Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos each received seven nominations.

The top 81st Golden Globes nominees

Succession is the main favorite among TV series, with nine nominations, well ahead of The Bear and Only Murders in the Building, which both got five noms.

These are the nominees in the main categories for the 81st Golden Globe Awards, which will be held on January 7 in Los Angeles.

BEST MOTION PICTURE – DRAMA: Anatomy of a Fall, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives and The Zone of Interest.

BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY: Air, American Fiction, Barbie, The Holdovers, May December and Poor Things.

Greta Gerwig’s film Barbie met all expectations and leads the 81st Golden Globes with nine nominations.

The film starring Margot Robbie and inspired by Mattel’s popular plastic doll, is followed by Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, with eight nominations.

Killers of the Flower Moon, by Martin Scorsese, and Poor Things, by Yorgos Lanthimos, received seven nominations.

Barbie is up for the top nominations, including Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Without a doubt, everyone involved with Barbie will be on the edge of their seats to see what they win.

It will also have to compete against itself for Best Original Song, with three nominations, according to EFE.
