Six US states will send direct payments worth up to $3,200 to millions of Americans by the end of this year, according to The Sun.

Some state legislators have approved relief packages intended to help their residents who are struggling with the harsh inflation hitting the country. Half a dozen states will send direct payments as soon as this September.

States will send payments in September

Some states chose to provide relief to their residents through the extension of tax credits or tax refunds while others chose to send relief checks and direct payments.

One of the states that will send the most aid is Alaska, which will deliver a $3,200 check thanks to a program enacted by Governor Mike Dunleavy. Alaska residents will receive a $650 energy check and another $2,550 as part of the state’s Permanent Fund dividend.

What states will send the payments?

Alaskas payments are scheduled to be sent as a lump sum on September 20. Those who receive the payment via direct deposit will have the money immediately while those who do so via check will receive it starting on October 3.

On the other hand, Colorado also plans to send aid to its residents thanks to the state’s Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) which is responsible for returning leftover income to residents. Almost all taxpayers will receive a check for $750, and those who file jointly will receive a payment of $1,500.

Payments up to $3,200

Also, Hawaii will begin sending tax refunds this September worth $300 to taxpayers who had income less than $100,000. Those who earn more than $100,000 and less than $200,000 will receive a $100 check.

Eligible residents of Virginia who filed their tax return before July 1, 2022 will receive a tax refund during the month of September or at the beginning of October. WJLA reported that single filers will receive a $250 check while married filers will receive a $500 check.

Help for workers

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker revealed that residents will receive at least $50 as part of an income tax refund. Families with three dependents can receive up to $300. Checks are expected to be mailed beginning September 12.

In Minnesota, the state’s frontline workers who have applied by July 22 will be able to receive a check for $750 per person. According to CBS News, the money will be distributed to qualified applicants in September and October via direct deposit or via a prepaid debit card.
