«We were quite inspired by shows from the ’80s, like Moonlighting or Hart to Hart, where they had these kinds of week-long missions,» Sloane said.

She added that they decided to adopt a weekly mission format that fit the current context and provided a deeper connection between the characters.

Sloane also revealed that Donald Glover’s involvement in the project was a determining factor in her desire to be a part of it.

The producer of the series said she was excited for another opportunity to work with the talented actor, whom she also worked with on Atlanta.

«I loved working with Donald on Atlanta, when he wanted to do something in the future it was like a dream come true,» Sloane shared during the interview.

«When he brought Mr. & Mrs. Smith, initially I thought he was joking, but when we started discussing it, figuring out how to do our version, it felt intriguing and very exciting,» she added.

Although the series is action-packed with chases, intense missions, shooting and explosions, Sloane highlighted her favorite part of the story.

«There is a moment when they are real with each other,» she notes, «and they start to say what they have hidden from the other about their past.»

«The way they acted that out and the way we can see how close they became, it was very special to me,» Sloane said.
