‘Sopranos’ actor Robert LuPone dies at 76 after long battle with cancer

Sopranos actor Robert LuPone has died. According to The Sun, Robert LuPone had been battling an illness for a long time and he finally succumbed to cancer.

It should be noted that the legendary actor was not only recognized for being one of the stars of The Sopranos but also had important roles in numerous Broadway productions. He was the brother of Patti LuPone.

Actor Robert LuPone dies at 76

Robert LuPone was born in Brooklyn and began his studies at The Juilliard School graduating in 1968 with a degree in dance. In that same year the actor made his Broadway debut in the play Sweet Potato directed by Noel Coward, after that he appeared in various shows.

One of them was the original production of A Chorus Line, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. His Broadway appearances include Minnie’s Boys, The Rothschilds, The Magic Show, A View from the Bridge, True West and A Thousand Clowns, among others. Filed Under: Actor Robert LuPone dies

He lost the fight against pancreatic cancer

In the Sopranos, Robert LuPone played Tony Soprano’s neighbor and doctor, Dr. Bruce ‘Cooze’ Cusamano. According to The Sun, after a fight with pancreatic cancer, the beloved actor lost his life at the age of 76 on Saturday, August 27.

Beloved Sopranos actor is bid farewell

Upon learning of the death of Bob LuPone, as he was affectionately called, several of his colleagues offered their condolences, including Broadway actress Donna Murphy who wrote: “An incredible man and an artistic force. May you rest in peace and power #BobLupone Thank you for everything you have given us. My deepest condolences to all your family and loved ones.»

“Heartbreaking news about Bob LuPone. I have worked on and off for MCC since 2015 and although our paths and departments only crossed from time to time, he was always a warm and uplifting presence in the space.
