Mexican politician shot to death on the street in broad daylight (VIDEO)

• Cajeme mayoral candidate from the Movimiento Ciudadano party is shot and killed.

The Cajeme mayoral candidate from the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) party, Abel Murrieta, dies after being shot while doing proselytizing work. He was a lawyer for the Lebarón family. The armed attack took place on Guerrero and California streets, where he was campaigning, handing out flyers and stickers, reported the news portal of El universal.

Officers from the three levels of government guarded the area where MC’s standard-bearer and one of his collaborators were shot. Both were transferred to a private hospital to receive medical attention, and minutes later the death of the candidate for mayor of Cajeme was reported.

WAS ATTORNEY

Abel Murrieta, 58 years old, had held the position of Attorney General of Sonora (2004-2012); local deputy for the PRI (2012-2015); and federal deputy also for the PRI (2015-2018).
