She said at that time she asked God for help so that her son would be with her for a little longer and that her wishes were fulfilled, although she hoped she would have more time with him.

“When my son tried [to end] his life two and a half years ago, I asked God to save his life and give me a little more time, please.” Williams said in an interview with The Sun. “And God answered my prayers. Sabrina told the British newspaper that her son was going through a challenging time because he also had bipolar disorder and in moments of difficulty he felt that his life was over. That made it harder for Alphonse when the doctor confirmed that he had been diagnosed with Peyronie’s. Later, he decided to take his own life.

“He was crying last Monday, hysterically crying. The week before, the doctor had confirmed what he already knew, that he had Peyronie’s,” Williams explained in the interview with the British newspaper. Alphonse unfortunately could not recover from the hard news of his diagnosis earlier this month.

In the interview, the half-sister of the famous tennis players said she believes that Alphonse overdosed. Although that has not been confirmed and she said that the results of his autopsy have not yet been published. She also said that they didn’t see it, the young man just went to sleep and didn’t wake up.

“The coroner said it will take six to eight weeks to find out what he bought. We know he’s taken some strong medicines which would have made him fall asleep, he would have gone into respiratory distress, but wouldn’t have known. He just never woke up,” Sabrina Williams explained in the interview.

Sabrina said that her son had been improving and was even studying computer engineering and visiting his counselor to discuss his school options. In addition, she said that her eldest son was feeling quite bad about the loss of his brother. She added that they both were unable face Alphonse’s death.

“He had started high school, was entering his fourth semester of computer engineering, and was regularly seeing a counselor. My oldest son keeps texting him on his phone, talking about sports, he doesn’t want to let go, that’s part of his grieving process. I can ask God why didn’t he take some damn frickin’ serial killer? Or child molester or something? But I will never know the answer,” Sabrina said.

Sabrina said that if someone had helped her maybe Alphonse would still be alive. Williams’ statement is countered by the life of Serena Williams, who a couple of months ago participated in a mental health conference with Prince Harry, highlighting the importance of her mental health.

“I read online for hours. One of the top symptoms is depression. I’m not denying that he died with mental health problems, but I truly believe that if my son got some help, somebody was able to talk to him, I think he would still be here,” she said in the interview.
