A woman went through a horrifying ordeal while giving birth to her daughter. Due to inexperience, doctors decapitated the baby during a botched delivery. This also endangered her life, because the head remained in her womb for several hours, according to The Sun.

The preliminary report indicates that the doctors attempted for more than half an hour to deliver the little girl, who came out feet first. The medical staff was inexperienced and did not handle the breech birth properly, according to information provided by the health authority of Sindh, Pakistan.

However, the report also indicates that it is believed that the baby had already died when doctors decided to sever her head after the rest of her body was delivered. According to authorities: «The fetus was not in cephalic position (head down).» Given this, an investigation was opened to determine responsibility.

The desperation and terror that the mother experienced is unimaginable but her life was also in danger. The health authority said the following regarding what happened during childbirth: «So the head got stuck after delivering the torso because the delivery was done by inexperienced hands,” they said about the decapitation of a baby during childbirth.

The mother had to be transferred to another clinic about 51 miles away because the one she was in was not equipped to safely remove the baby’s head from her womb. She continued having contractions but they didn’t have what was necessary at the second facility either and she was taken to another hospital which was about 134 miles away.

There, finally, they performed an operation that fortunately saved her life. However, she endured unbelievable trauma during the entire ordeal. In addition, staff from the last clinic took photographs and shared them on WhatsApp, so now an investigation will be opened in this regard as well. Filed Under: Baby beheaded in childbirth

The authorities confirmed that the mother suffered a “prolonged psychological trauma” that will not be easy to overcome. In addition, they warned that they will take all pertinent actions so that this does not happen again, according to Dr. Muhammad Juman Bahoto, general director of the regional health authority. He added that they will apply strict measures against the culprits.

He said that everything seems to indicate that there was no gynecologist or female staff on duty at the rural health center. The 32-year-old mother is now in the Liaquat University of Medicine and Health Sciences clinic in Hyderabad. In turn, Professor Raheel Sikandar said: «The mother’s uterus had been ruptured as they didn’t follow the normal procedure.» Filed Under: Baby beheaded in childbirth

Professor Sikandar explained that breech babies don’t die if doctors act fast. And he added: “Healthcare providers (in Chhachhro) might have tried to save the baby, but in vain. The baby’s head was entrapped. In such breech baby cases, deaths occur in one minute if they are not fully delivered.»

According to The Sun, the doctors will be subject to a legal process, since the health authority has already said that they will not allow anything like this to happen again. However, so far it is unknown what will happen to them or how the woman will overcome the tragedy she suffered. Filed Under: Baby beheaded in childbirth
