Hobson was sentenced by Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael B. Aloise, who gave him a total of 26 and one-third years behind bars. A Fair Sentence

«He’s trying to kill the baby!»

In 2019, in the middle of the night, Anthony Hobson was arguing with his girlfriend, Jennifer Irigoyen, on the third floor of their apartment building in Queens, New York when the unthinkable happened. Hobson threatened his partner and demanded she get rid of the baby she was expecting. He threatened her with a knife and when he began attacking her, Jessica knew their lives were in danger.

«Help! Help! He’s trying to kill the baby!” shouted Irigoyen, a real estate agent and ballroom dancer who was 14 weeks pregnant at the time. The young woman was desperate and her fears increased when she saw that Hobson had a knife. The man wasted no time and lunged at her, stabbing her, NYP reported.

Did neighbors see him commit the crime?

One of their neighbors saw the Hispanic woman’s tragic murder and told the authorities what happened. He said that he heard the woman’s desperate screams and decided to go out to see what was happening. The scene that unfolded before his eyes was horrifying. Anthony was burying the knife in Jennifer’s neck, chest and abdomen.

Realizing that he’d been seen, and knowing that the police would arrive at any moment, the suspect ended up fleeing the tragic scene, leaving Irigoyen to bleed to death from the wounds he had inflicted. Anthony Hobson immediately fled the scene of his partner’s tragic death and ended up traveling to Pennsylvania. Hobson was missing for five days while the authorities searched everywhere for Jennifer’s ex-partner who was the main suspect in the real estate consultant’s murder.

After five days passed, he ended up traveling back to Queens where he turned himself in to local authorities and confessed to his crimes. The suspect had gotten rid of the murder weapon but admitted that he had murdered his girlfriend with a knife that he was carrying. The reason he gave for the murder was that he didn’t want to have a child and it was the only way to ‘stop the pregnancy’.

“I have a lot to say”

After being arrested, Anthony Hobson announced that the story was not complete without hearing his side of the story. The man said that people should know how the events unfolded in order to judge him. Likewise, he reported that at that time he could not give details about what had happened and commented that one day the truth would come to light. Three years later, Jennifer is getting justice for her murder.

“Both sides of the story [are necessary] to complete it… I don’t think it’s complete. You need to get the facts right,” Anthony said in a 2019 New York Post interview. “I have a lot to say, I’m just not at liberty to say anything right now. I hope the truth comes out.
