Hispanic man shot seven times by ‘spy’ neighbor’s drone

Thinking something had crashed into their property, Royer Peña went out to investigate and never returned.
Something in the Ogden, Utah neighborhood was not going well: the community claims that a neighbor used to spy on them with a drone.
He trespassed on others’ property at any time without the slightest respect; residents reported to the police.
Murder in the Ogden neighborhood
That night, at 9:55 p.m., Peña verified that the stranger’s device had crashed into a tree within his property.
Approaching to retrieve it turned out to be his gravest mistake. «He was more than a great friend; many would say he was like family.»
“He was always there for everyone, regardless of the circumstances,” Carlos Peña wrote on a fundraising account.

In his sworn statement, the detainee stated that he took out his drone to fly after hearing a noise from a vehicle on the street, wanting to see what was going on.
He lost control of the drone and went to retrieve it. Upon arriving, he found the stranger holding the drone. Seeing the stranger’s hand in his pocket, he shot him seven times.
Due to his reaction to the events, the court determined that Powell poses a significant danger to the community.
As a result, he was ordered to be held without bail in the Weber County Jail.
Arrest and charges
He is charged with seven offenses, including murder with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm resulting in bodily injury.
«Royer will be sorely missed by everyone around us. He was the father of five beautiful children, two girls and three boys,» mourns his brother.
