In the context of International Women’s Day in 2021, Melenie Carmona Villarreal’s abuse was revealed.

Alicia Villarreal’s daughter said that someone very close to her family abused her when she was just 17 years old.

Without mentioning his name, she addressed her attacker, who had been left in charge of her and her siblings because he was older.

«Everyone has that vision of you: responsible, good kid, hard worker, honest,» the young woman said — and this was only the beginning.

Meleni Carmona Villarreal speaks out

In another part of this statement, Melenie Carmona Villarreal shared more details of that terrible moment.

«You knocked on the bedroom door in the early hours saying you had heard noises and that you were going to stay with me.»

The young woman admitted that she made the «stupid…» decision to let her abuser in. After several hours, all she remembers was his hand inside her shorts.

«I was totally paralyzed for a while, and you just wouldn’t stop,» said Alicia Villarreal’s daughter.

Was Alicia Villarreal aware of Melenie Carmona Villarreal’s abuse?

Unfortunately, for a long time after this experience, Melenie Carmona Villarreal felt «alone, devastated and guilty.»

«I had to hold back the tears and act strong every time I had to see you and see how everyone who knew had forgotten what happened.»

To conclude, Alicia Villarreal’s daughter said that on that day, March 8, 2021, she decided to free herself from that burden she had carried for years.

«Thanks to you, I realized that the only one who can protect me from people like you is myself,» she declared.

How did her father react?

It didn’t take long for Melenie Carmona Villarreal’s father, Arturo Carmona, to react to her revelation.

Through his social media, the actor and former husband of Alicia Villarreal acknowledged that it hurt him to his soul that his daughter had not turned to him.

«Today I reiterate that I am here for you, that you are brave and courageous to do this, and that you never forget how valuable you are.»

Carmona reminded Melenie that he would always be there for her and he would not let her abuse go. 

Alicia Villarreal stands by her daughter

Months after Melenie Carmona Villarreal’s statement, her mother Alicia Villarreal spoke about this sensitive issue.

According to Univision, in an interview for Ventaneando, the singer said that worse things have happened to other people.

«As her mother, I always tell her (that) I will obviously be here. She has her mom to help her,» she said.

Finally, she made it clear that the person who committed the abuse was not a relative, although many thought it was a cousin.
