Stuntman Grant Page dies
Grant Page was widely known for his work as a stunt double in numerous Australian film productions.
Furthermore, he worked closely with director Brian Trenchard-Smith on over a dozen projects throughout his career.
Among these standout films are The Stuntmen (1973), Kung Fu Killers (1974), and The Man From Hong Kong (1973), to name a few.
He performed action scenes alongside martial arts expert Jimmy Wang Yu using knives, blades and meat hooks, according to The U.S. Sun.
Grant Page’s impressive career
Grant Page worked as a stunt double in films such as Deathcheaters (1976), Stunt Rock (1978) and Hospitals Don’t Burn Down! (1978).
One of the most iconic moments of Grant Page’s career was his involvement in the documentary Dangerfreaks (1987).
Here, Brian Trenchard-Smith filmed him standing on the outer edge of the observation deck railing of the Empire State Building in New York.
However, Grant Page is best-known for his work in the 1979 film Mad Max, which catapulted him to international fame.
Grant Page dies in a tragic accident
The tragic accident that claimed Page’s life occurred when the actor was driving alone and crashed into a tree, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Emergency personnel attempted to save his life.
However, despite their efforts, the iconic stuntman passed away at the scene of the accident.
His son Leroy described his father as a «legendary» figure in cinema and shared that he was working on new projects.
Condolences pour in after the stuntman’s death
Leroy said that his father was in high spirits before he died and was feeling motivated and happy with his work, according to The U.S. Sun.
Brian Trenchard-Smith is mourning the actor’s loss and described him as an inspiring man who defied the laws of physics.
«Grant Page was Australia’s pioneer stunt performer and my friend for fifty-two years,» Brian stated.
«I will miss him terribly. He was an inspiring man, who lived uncompromisingly,» he added.
An unforgettable film legacy
The U.S .Sun noted that Australian director Jamie Blanks joined the various tributes to Grant Page, highlighting his courage and talent.
«Grant was one of the most wonderful, kind and brave men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I mourn the loss of this Aussie legend deeply today. RIP Grant,» he said.
