Luis Pérez Pons has died at the age of 72.

On October 24, Pérez Pons’ colleague and close friend, the talented Luis Carreño, who is the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, made the sad announcement.

He shared an emotional message on X, formerly Twitter.

Carreño shared his sadness saying: «Today, the world of Venezuelan dubbing says goodbye to one of its most iconic voices.»

«An exceptional human being, a dear friend and an incomparable colleague. My eternal boss, Mr. Krabs, is leaving us. Rest in peace, dear Luis Pérez Pons,» said the actor.

The sad news was also confirmed by the Anime Latin Dubbing Awards (ALDA Awards), who shared a moving message on social media.

«It is with deep regret that we report the sad death of the great dubbing actor and announcer, Luis Pérez Pons, at the age of 72,» they wrote.

So far, the exact circumstances of the death of this prominent voice actor have not yet been revealed.

On October 19, Pérez Pons celebrated his birthday and posted about it on social media.

At that time he said he was suffering from undisclosed health problems.

In his last Instagram post, he expressed his gratitude and shared:

«I am very grateful to God for all the expressions of affection that I have received on my birthday from each of you.»
