  • Today, Profe Claudio Nieto explains why you accumulate fat in certain parts of the body.
  • While there are some factors linked to gender, there are others related to hormones, growth, etc.
  • There are also strategies offered to lose fat.

Have you ever wondered why fat tends to gather in certain areas of your body and how you can handle this well?

In this post, we will look closely at understanding how to lose body fat in specific areas and how body chemicals play an important role in this process.

There is a difference in fat gathering based on gender. Women gather fat in hips and thighs, safer areas, because they can have babies.

In contrast, men usually store fat in the belly, closer to body parts, as a backup for when there’s a lack of food.

Fat accumulation by genes

Our genes also have a big part in how we store fat. About half of how our fat gathers is due to genes.

For instance, the APOE gene can affect breaking down certain fats, changing how fat gathers and the chance of getting sicknesses like Alzheimer’s or heart problems.

In the same way, the AMY1 gene affects our ability to break down sugars and starches.

But it’s not only genes that matter, body chemicals do too.

Fat accumulation by hormones

Body chemicals really change how body fat spreads. The stress hormone, important for health, can directly change fat gathering when there’s too much.

This stress hormone makes a body enzyme that stores fat in the belly. Handling stress, sleeping enough, and managing your time can help keep the stress hormone in check.

Male hormones in men and female hormones in women are also important. A chemical mix-up can make fat gather in places we don’t want.

For example, in men, too much female hormone can make fat gather in the chest and butt, while in women, female hormones can stop fat from going to the tummy.

It’s normal that as we grow up, our bodies change, and one of these changes is how we control weight.

The body growth chemical is important for burning belly fat.

As we get older, the amount of this chemical goes down, which can make fat gather around the middle of the body.

Hard exercise and working with weights can help keep this body chemical at good levels.

Receptors and blood flow

Where certain body spots are can make it hard to burn fat in specific places.

For example, women often have more of these body spots in the butt and thigh area, making it hard to lose fat there.

Also, if not enough blood goes to these places, it can be hard to get rid of fat there.

Exercises that boost body stress chemicals, along with sugar control, can help deal with this hard-to-move fat.

It’s key to know that trying to only lose fat in one spot is a myth.

Instead, take a full approach that has a good diet, regular workouts, enough sleep, and handling stress.

If you think there’s a big unevenness in how your fat gathers and think it’s a body chemical problem, think about getting gene tests or a blood check to find and handle the issue the right way.
