Man dressed as Jesus Christ arrested

Amadeus Fernando Pagente, a drag performer identified as Luka Vega, decided to portray Jesus Christ and was subsequently arrested by Philippine authorities.

«Pura Luka Vega was arrested this afternoon (October 4) after failing to attend preliminary investigations of the criminal case filed against him,» a press release revealed.

People close to the drag queen reported that they are fighting to free ‘Pura Luka Vega’, claiming they did not receive a summons.

«Neither PLV nor its team received any summons for the preliminary investigations in Manila,» the press release concluded.

Drag Queen Arrested

According to local media, the incident began when Pura Luka Vega, dressed as Jesus, chose to pray during a show.

This action sparked outrage among the predominantly Catholic population, who strongly condemned the event and sought the support of the authorities.

The news portal Síntesis TV reported that the drag queen was accused of blasphemy and declared «persona non grata» by local governments.

Additionally, Pura Luka Vega became viral on social media due to the controversial costume of Jesus Christ. Currently, he is under arrest.

«I did not do anything wrong»

The drag queen made comments from prison, emphasizing his innocence regarding the crimes of which he is accused.

«I didn’t do anything wrong,» said Pura Luka Vega. «And the arrest illustrates the degree of homophobia in the country,» he highlighted from prison.

At the time, the authorities indicated that he committed «offensive acts,» which included dancing, singing, and twerking, as reported by Síntesis TV.

It is known that the complaints submitted against the drag performer were made by one of the local Christian groups.
