Another inmate dies at the jail where Trump surrendered in Fulton County

There was another tragedy inside the Fulton County Jail where Trump turned himself in to authorities in Georgia.

An inmate reportedly died — this was the tenth death inside the prison so far this year.

A jail official discovered the unconscious inmate, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The cause of death has not been revealed at this time while investigations continue.

Tragedy at the Fulton County Jail

A 24-year-old man, Shawndre Delmore, was found unconscious in his cell on August 31.

Although it happened last month, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office only recently announced the sad death.

After jail personnel unsuccessfully attempted «lifesaving measures», the inmate was transferred to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Tragically Delmore was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Another inmate died at the jail

Authorities reported that the 24-year-old had been arrested last April for second-degree robbery.

He was also charged with willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer and was being held on $2,500 bail.

Since then, Shawndre Delmore’s has spent his days inside the Fulton County Jail in Georgia.

The institution has been under constant scrutiny due to a series of tragedies, as well as allegations of abuse and neglect.

The jail became widely known nationally when former President Donald Trump turned himself in along with 18 other defendants.

They were all charged in a vast racketeering scheme related to the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

The US Department of Justice announced that it would launch a civil investigation into the county jail system.

This comes after a series of reports detailing abuses towards inmates, according to ABC News.

Other inmate deaths this year

Among these reports, the case of LaShawn Thompson stands out — he died in September 2022.

His family claims it was due to inhumane conditions, including that he was «eaten alive by insects», according to an independent autopsy report.

The drama has worsened with the deaths of other inmates throughout this year, such as that of 34-year-old Samuel Lawrence.

He was found unconscious in his cell during dinner rounds, and was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Fatal stabbing

Additionally, a stabbing at the jail on August 31 resulted in the tragic death of another inmate, ABC News reported.

Dayvion Blake, 23, lost his life after sustaining stab wounds along with three other inmates.

All of them were also taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead.

Christopher Smith, 34, died in jail last month after waiting nearly four years for his trial to start.

Ongoing investigation into negligence at the facility

In another troubling incident, an inmate at a mental health unit was found dead with his wrists and ankles bound.

Unfortunately, some people have died while in custody because of their inability to post bail.

Alexander Hawkins, 66, is an example of this. He was pronounced dead last month after being found unconscious.

Local and federal authorities are researching these cases in search of answers and solutions, according to ABC News.
