Mon Laferte announces she’s in love with her drummer, Cancamusa

Since the release of the song ‘Tu Falta de Querer’, Chilean singer Mon Laferte has achieved one success after another.

It’s worth noting that at the end of last year, Norma Montserrat received her Mexican naturalization certificate.

She revealed that her new album, Autopoiética will come out in a few weeks. She also revealed some of the songs that will be on it.

During a 2019 concert she surprised everyone by announcing that she was in love with a woman. Who is she?

During a stop on her Norma tour, Mon Laferte couldn’t hold back and poured her heart out to the audience.

Before that, she shared a photo on Instagram in which she is kissing her drummer, Cancamusa, on the lips.

The singer of songs like ‘La Trenza’, ‘Antes de Ti’, and ‘Primaveral’, among others, simply wrote: «Mi amor ❤️.»

The response was swift — some congratulated her and others were more negative.

Days after the photo of Mon Laferte and Cancamusa kissing was shared, the singer posted a revealing video.

«This is how you enjoy a concert,» the Chilean artist exclaimed as one of her fans can be heard shouting at the top of their lungs.

However, the surprise came seconds later when Montserrat made an announcement during the concert.

«I’m in love with a woman whom I love with all my soul,» she said before pointing to her drummer.

Who is Cancamusa?

Naturally, this made people want to know more about Mon Laferte’s drummer.

Cancamusa’s given name is Natalia Andrea Soledad Pérez Peralta and she’s also from Chile.

Previously, she was the drummer and vocalist for Amanitas, and she also played the drums for Javiera Mena.

In February, she released her album Amor Minimal, and a few weeks ago, she dropped the song ‘Una noche que Nunca Termina’, followed by ‘Decidí’.

«I think everyone is bisexual»

On several occasions, Mon Laferte been open about her support for the LGBTQ+ community.

«I was raised believing in love and equality, and in fact, I believe that everyone is bisexual,» she stated.

Her revealing interview with Glamour provoked mixed reactions online.

«Society makes people say no to (being bisexual), especially men… We need to relax and enjoy,» she commented.

She was sexually abused at 13

According to La Razón, Mon Laferte talked about her decision to speak out on a very sensitive issue.

In ‘Un Diamante Llorando’, included on the album 1940 Carmen, she describes the sexual abuse she suffered when she was just 13 years old.

«Now I feel amazing, I’m happy, I feel brave, and I like it. I realize that singing about it has served me well,» she stated.

«Talking about it is hard for me, it makes me feel guilty,» she said.
