Ralf Schumacher, a former Formula One driver, has announced that he is in a relationship with a person of the same sex.

The younger brother of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher shared the news on Instagram.

At 49 years old, Ralf Schumacher won six Grand Prix races in an 11-year career that ended in 2007.

German actress Carmen Geiss mentioned Schumacher’s partner as Etienne in an Instagram post.

This announcement is a personal triumph and a sign of self-acceptance for Ralf.

The only other openly gay driver in the history of Formula 1 was the British driver Mike Beuttler.
