Terrible tragedy! A Hispanic mother mourns the death of her son, Miguel Meza, and his friend, Carlos Galindo, in a shooting in Chicago.
The families of both young men have created GoFundMe accounts to ask for help with funeral expenses.
The teenagers were in front of a house, around six o’clock in the evening on Saturday, August 3, in New City.
Suddenly, a car stopped and one of the passengers inside shot at them.
Died in the hospital
According to the Chicago Sun Times, Miguel Meza and Carlos Galindo died in the hospital while receiving medical attention.
Ofelia García, Miguel’s mother, confessed that the young man, just 15 years old, was able to say goodbye to her.

Though he could not speak, he looked at his mom and blinked.
«And I fell. And they told me he was saying his last goodbye,» shared Ofelia.

«My son is gone. He was my baby, I wish they had taken me instead of him,» said Ofelia García.
While Miguel Meza suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Carlos Galindo was shot in the arm and armpit.
So far, no one has been arrested, although investigations continue.
Miguel was the youngest of eight siblings. His death has devastated his family.
Financial support for victims’ families
As mentioned earlier, the families of Miguel Meza and Carlos Galindo have created GoFundMe accounts to seek help with funeral expenses.
Lalita Valdez is organizing the fundraiser for Miguel’s family.
Unfortunately, out of a goal of $8,500, only about $600 has been raised so far.
To conclude, the family of Carlos, who would have turned 17 years old in September, has received $1,135 to date.
