The incident occurred Saturday afternoon when Jeremiah was in a car with his father in the 3100 block of West 26th Street.

«While we were simply out shopping for baby formula, this senseless and regrettable act of violence occurred, turning our family’s world upside down,» the boy’s mother wrote.
«Jeremiah is currently in the hospital receiving intensive medical treatment. He is connected to many tubes and an intravenous catheter,» she said.

Jeremiah’s family has asked for financial help to deal with this difficult situation and has also asked anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made so far. On the other hand, CBS reported that the child’s father had received threats on social media.
