The world of music is mourning the tragic news that bassist John Giblin, who played with many legendary artists, including musicians like Kate Bush, Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Simple Minds, among others, has died. Social media was flooded with condolences for his family, according to Rock and Pop.

The renowned artist was 71 years old and had been suffering from an undisclosed illness. Fans and acquaintances sent farewell messages and shared photographs of him, celebrating his nearly 40-year career.

Osibisa, a band John Giblin had played with recently, announced his death with a statement on Facebook. The group indicated that the bassist had been «battling an illness», without giving further details about his cause of death.

Giblin was one of the most important musicians on the British scene. Throughout his career, he performed with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Annie Lennox, Phil Collins, Simple Minds, Eric Clapton, Mavis Staples, Roberta Flack and even Paul McCartney.

Kate Bush shared a message mourning the loss of her collaborator and great friend. They had been friends since the eighties when he worked on her album, The Sensual World (1989). His fans remember him for his great talent.

«I loved John very much. He was one of my closest and dearest friends for over forty years. We were always there for each other,» Kate Bush wrote. In addition to The Sensual World, they also worked together on The Red Shoes (1993), Aerial (2005), Director’s Cut (2011), and 50 Words For Snow (2011).

She added: «He was very special. I loved working with him, not only because he was an extraordinary musician, but also because he was so much fun.We all lost a great man, an incomparable musician and I lost my special friend. My world will never be the same without him,» Kate Bush concluded.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced but fans are looking forward to a tribute to the bassist as he was one of the most prolific musicians of his time. He will be remembered fondly.
