President Donald Trump is set to attend the Super Bowl, the grand finale of American football, this Sunday in New Orleans.

This participation was confirmed by various American media outlets.

Trump will be the first sitting president to witness this iconic sporting event, the most significant in the country.

In addition to his attendance, he is also scheduled to give an interview to Fox News, which will be broadcast shortly before the game starts.

Trump to Attend the Super Bowl

Previous presidents like George H.W. Bush have attended the Super Bowl, but they did so after their presidency.

Trump was asked by reporters in the Oval Office about his prediction for the clash between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, but he did not provide a concrete answer.

«I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain ‘quarterback’ who seems to be a great winner,» said the president.

Apparently, he was referring to Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback with whom the Chiefs have won three of the last five Super Bowls.

Security Strengthened After Attack in New Orleans

This year’s Super Bowl will take place one month after a terrorist attack in New Orleans that resulted in 14 dead and dozens injured.

Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), assured through her account on the platform X that her agency has protected the event for over 20 years and that they continue working «nonstop to ensure safety» at the Superdome.

During a press conference, Noem stated that no «credible threats» have been detected toward the game, and resources have been deployed in advance to reinforce security in the city.

The January 1st attack was carried out by Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, a 42-year-old man, who drove a van into a crowd on Bourbon Street.

The incident left at least 14 dead before police shot him dead, according to EFE.

Trump’s attendance at the Super Bowl is generating expectations both for its historical significance and for the security context surrounding the event.
