Trump highlighted Hegseth’s «toughness» and «intelligence» while praising his commitment to the «America First» doctrine.

«With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice: our Armed Forces will be great again and America will never give up,» Trump said in a statement.

Parole in place for undocumented spouses of US citizens is revoked.

«No one fights harder for troops and Pete will be a brave and patriotic defender of our ‘Peace Through Strength’ policy.»

Hegseth has repeatedly expressed his disagreement with what he sees as a weakening of the military due to inclusion and diversity policies.

Why is it so controversial?

In his book “The War Against Warriors: Behind the Betrayal of the Men Who Keep Us Free,” the new Secretary of Defense criticizes a “woke” army.

Which, according to him, prioritizes the selection of “diverse” recruits with progressive ideologies and mandatory vaccination.

For Hegseth, this agenda represents a threat to military cohesion and effectiveness.

For that reason, the election of Hegseth as Secretary of Defense has set off alarms in the Pentagon.

Who is the future Secretary of Defense?

Pete Hegseth, 44, is one of the most prominent figures at Fox News Channel, where he co-hosts the program “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

With a profile in both the military and the media, Hegseth has attracted attention for his firm stances and vision on patriotism and the role of veterans in American society.

Since 2014, he has been a contributor to this network, establishing himself as an influential voice in the conservative media space.

Before entering the world of television, Hegseth served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of infantry captain in the National Guard.
