In an unexpected twist, iconic actress Jane Fonda plunged into deep, uncharted waters by openly discussing her thoughts on death.

«When you get to be my age, you better be aware of the amount of time that is behind you, as opposed to in front of you,» Fonda told Entertainment Tonight.

The two-time Oscar winner and world-renowned activist revealed for the first time intimate details about her health and how she feels about it.

«I mean, that’s just realistic,» she added in the interview that left her fans surprised by her frankness.

The emotional interview highlighted the actress’s sincerity and vulnerability, and Fonda clearly expressed her willingness to face whatever lies ahead.

«I’m not afraid to leave, I’m ready. I have had a great life,» she calmly admitted to Entertainment Tonight.

But she quickly stressed that this doesn’t mean that she’s giving in to cancer and will stop fighting for her life.

«Not that I want to go, but I’m aware that it’s going to be sooner rather than later,» she continued.

In another part of the conversation, the 85-year-old actress talked about her cancer diagnosis, revealing her struggle with chemotherapy.

«The week I receive chemotherapy is a challenge. You get tired, but after that week it’s great,» she said.

Fonda broke down the details of her battle with the disease, marking a unique moment in the her career.

Likewise, she spoke about the support she received from her fans who sent messages of affection.

On September 2, 2022, the four-time Golden Globe winner announced that she was receiving treatment for cancer.

«I’ve been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and have started chemo treatments,» she shared on Instagram.

The news of Fonda’s diagnosis shed light on the fragility of existence and the unpredictability of life, even for those who seem invulnerable on the big screen.

«This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky,” she continued in her post.

«Cancer is a teacher and I’m paying attention to the lessons it holds for me. One thing it’s shown me already is the importance of community,” she added.

«Of growing and deepening one’s community so that we are not alone. And the cancer, along with my age — almost 85 — definitely teaches the importance of adapting to new realities.»
