Influencer and entrepreneur Erika Vega has broken her silence after being swept into controversy surrounding the femicide of Valeria Márquez, which took place a week ago during a live broadcast from a beauty salon in Jalisco.

Through her social media accounts, Vega categorically denied any connection to the case, after online users alleged she was the employee present at the time of the murder.

The accusations began circulating after clips from the live stream showed Valeria, 23, mentioning someone named “Erika” as the person who informed her that a man wanted to give her an expensive gift.

“Today I was doing some things, and Erika called me and said, ‘Hey baby, someone wants to bring you something, but they want to hand it to you directly,’ and I said, ‘Ah, I’ll be there in about an hour,’” Valeria said during the livestream.

Testimonies and Rumors Link Her Without Proof

“And they told her it’d be better to wait for me because it’s ‘something very expensive,’” Valeria added—just hours before she was killed.

That mention alone was enough for many internet users to start linking Erika Vega to the case, mistakenly identifying her as the alleged employee referenced in the video.

The controversy intensified when Vega was criticized for not publicly showing visible signs of grief or shock after the incident, which some interpreted as suspicious behavior.

Even public figures like Maryfer Centeno joined in questioning the behavior of the young woman who, according to reports, ended the livestream after the attack.

The Influencer Denies Any Relationship With Valeria

However, authorities have yet to issue any official statement linking Erika Vega or anyone else to the commission of the femicide.

Amid the wave of speculation, Vega took to Instagram Stories to clearly and firmly request that her name be disassociated from the case.

“I want to state that my name and image, Erika Vega, have been involved in the recent case of influencer Valeria Márquez,” her statement began.

“I kindly ask to be disassociated from this case, as I am not part of influencer Valeria Márquez’s circle,” she wrote.

Erika Vega Wrongly Accused

The content creator identified herself as a “35-year-old businesswoman from Sonora, married for seven years, and the mother of two beautiful daughters,” currently residing in Zapopan, Jalisco.

She also expressed her solidarity with Valeria’s family and said she hopes justice is served as soon as possible, rejecting the unfounded accusations made against her.

“I truly hope the real culprits are found soon. You already have photos of the women involved—I don’t understand why I’m being linked or accused in such a sensitive matter,” Vega wrote.

The influencer stressed that she was never part of Valeria’s close circle and deeply regretted being dragged into a situation she considers painful and unrelated to her life.

“This is a very serious accusation, and for that reason, I ask that I no longer be linked to this matter. My heartfelt condolences to Valeria Márquez’s family for this irreparable loss,” she stated.

She concluded her message with a call for justice and words of sympathy for the young victim’s loved ones: “From the bottom of my heart to her family, may everything fall into place, and may justice truly be served.”

Since Valeria’s death during a livestream, the case has drawn national attention and sparked widespread outrage across social media.

As the investigation continues, authorities have summoned people close to the influencer for questioning, but have issued no statement implicating Erika Vega, according to Milenio.
