  • Chronicle: Hold on tight because Georgia’s anti-gang unit is coming for you.
  • A new special police unit is about to begin operating.
  • By land, air and even water if necessary, they plan to start hunting criminals down soon.

In a couple of weeks, Georgia, better known as the ‘Peach State’, will have a new special anti-gang unit. It turns out that as of July 1, the Gang Prosecution Unit will officially begin to operate. Authorities are hoping this team will help curb illegal gang activity.

Thanks to the law, HB1134, approved by the last state legislature, out of the fiscal budget of more than $30 billion that has been designated to cover the operating costs of the State, $1.6 billion will go directly to combat gangs — clandestine groups whose crimes have been more notorious than ever in the last five years.

Sadly, many of these gangs are Hispanic

And although it hurts to say it, because I wish the opposite were true, many (if not most) of these illegal groups, are made up of Hispanic boys. The most internationally famous of these groups include: the Mara Salvatrucha or MS13, the Mara 18, Vatos Locos and la Raza, for example.

There are also gangs of African Americans, Asians, and white youth. Well, now they better watch out, because the authorities from various counties are united against all of them. The Atlanta Police Department just announced on its Facebook page that it plans to hit them with everything they’ve got.

The Atlanta police shared a photograph showing several of their units along with state patrol cars and even a helicopter to let gang members know that this alliance intends to destroy them once and for all. Although they will start in Fulton County, little by little they will spread to the rest of the state.

The Atlanta metropolitan area has been the most affected by the proliferation of gangs, including Fulton and Clayton in the south, Cobb in the northwest, DeKalb in the southeast, Gwinnett and Hall in the north. In the last four areas, the gangs that control the streets are 90 percent Latino. (Filed Under: Police Chronicle with everything)

From graffiti to robberies and murders

Local gangs are responsible for multiple serious crimes, including damage to private property, such as graffiti on walls and the destruction of doors and windows of homes and businesses as well as armed robberies, rapes and homicides. Many of the gangs are also involved in drug trafficking.

And contrary to what many believe, they not only consume drugs, but also sell them. They’re always in search of new customers, since it is a profitable business. Well, from now on, they will be investigated more thoroughly and will be pursued like prey, so they should hold on tight, because their days as criminals could be numbered.
