A dust storm driven by wind gusts between 60 and 85 mph caused chaos on the roads of Oklahoma and Texas, leaving at least 10 people injured on Friday afternoon.
One of the most severe accidents occurred on Highway 11, near Blackwell, Oklahoma, where a Newkirk ambulance was involved in a multi-vehicle collision.
The Newkirk Fire and EMS Department reported that the accident occurred around 1:30 p.m., when the ambulance was returning from a hospital in Blackwell and encountered zero visibility.
Images from the impact show severe damage to the left side of the emergency vehicle.

Two paramedics aboard the ambulance were injured in the accident, along with two other individuals.
All were transported to a local hospital for treatment, although the severity of their injuries has not been specified.

Highway 11 remained closed until Friday evening due to the dangerous reduction in visibility.
Another multi-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 35, also in Blackwell, where six people were injured, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Authorities have not confirmed the exact number of vehicles involved or the specific causes of the crashes.
Strong winds caused by the dust storm were a determining factor in these accidents.

In Texas, the dust storm gusts reached up to 87 mph in Pine Springs, 83 mph in Amarillo, and 81 mph in Lubbock, according to Fox Weather.
Meanwhile, in Oklahoma, winds of 83 mph were recorded in Frederick and Hobart, 74 mph in Stillwater, 71 mph in Oklahoma City, and 68 mph in Tulsa.
Emergency agencies have urged drivers to take extreme caution in extreme weather conditions and to avoid traveling in areas affected by dust storms.
