A Piper PA-28 made an emergency landing near Coconut Palm Elementary School in Miramar after experiencing engine trouble during a flight on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred just after 1 p.m. and was reported by local authorities, who confirmed that the small plane came down without major incidents near the school’s playground, located at 13601 Monarch Lakes Blvd.
Miramar Police Chief Delrish Moss noted that the occupants of the plane, two individuals in total, decided to make the emergency landing upon noticing the engine issues.
Fortunately, the landing did not cause significant damage to the school or nearby residents.

Moss also confirmed that there were no injuries either on the plane or at the school, where students had already returned to class after recess.
This is not the first emergency incident recorded for this plane.

In 2022, the same Piper PA-28 had to make an emergency landing at North Perry Airport, with no serious consequences at that time.
Santiago, a local resident, expressed his relief about the plane incident near the Miramar school, describing the landing as a true miracle.
«It’s a miracle, a real miracle. It made a perfect landing. If it had gone any further and the kids had been playing, it would have been a catastrophe.»
«The pilot deserves a medal,» commented Santiago, highlighting the pilot’s skill and quick reaction during the emergency, according to WSVN.
At the scene, police detectives continue to investigate the incident, while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) leads the official investigation to determine the exact causes of the engine problem and assess any potential risks to the community.
Despite the incident, the school remained open, and traffic in the area was not significantly affected.
