Guillermo Carrillo is known for being the younger brother of Amado Carrillo Fuentes, a famous drug lord.
During the 1990s, the Juárez Cartel, under Amado’s leadership, was one of the most powerful criminal organizations in Mexico.
Amado Carrillo Fuentes gained notoriety for his nickname «El Señor de los Cielos.»
This recognition was due to his vast fleet of aircraft used for transporting drugs.
Amado Carrillo died on July 3, 1997, during surgery at Santa Monica Hospital.
The hospital was located in the exclusive Polanco area of Mexico City.
The procedure included facial reconstruction and liposuction.
It was reportedly intended to change his appearance and flee Mexico under a false identity.
However, the operation proved fatal, according to Infobae.
Months later, in November 1997, the bodies of doctors Jaime Godoy, Carlos Ávila, and Ricardo Reyes were found dead.
These three men had participated in Amado’s surgery.
All three were found murdered in the city of Acapulco, in an apparent revenge related to the failed procedure.
