Fabio Ochoa, a former associate of Pablo Escobar, was released from prison this week after serving 25 years.
His release was recorded on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, which provided no further details.
Colombian media are speculating on his destination, whether he will be deported to Colombia or travel to another country.
Ochoa, 67, was arrested in 1999 during Operation Millennium and extradited to the United States in 2001.

In 2003, he was convicted of conspiring to distribute cocaine and smuggle drugs into the U.S.
Authorities confirmed that his network smuggled 30 tons of cocaine per month between 1997 and 1999.
Prosecutors stated that Fabio Ochoa returned to drug trafficking after serving a previous sentence in Colombia.
Ochoa appealed his conviction, but in 2005 a court in Atlanta upheld his 30-year prison sentence.
In 2007, he sought a new trial, arguing that a key witness had lied, but his request was denied.
