Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador criticized the United States on Wednesday.
He pointed to the U.S. government as responsible for the wave of violence that has rocked Sinaloa following the capture of Ismael «El Mayo» Zambada, one of the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel.
During his morning press conference, AMLO condemned the agreements between the U.S. and members of drug trafficking organizations.
He stated that such actions have unleashed a spiral of violence in the region.
Takes Aim at the Border Wall
López Obrador also took the opportunity to criticize the ongoing expansion of the border wall, a measure that has been implemented across several U.S. administrations.
In his view, these actions are ineffective at stopping the flow of migrants.

Additionally, the president believes they symbolize a lack of understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
The Mexican president reiterated that his government has significantly reduced migrant flow at the border.
He highlighted that from December 2023 to September 2024, the numbers have dropped significantly.
However, he insisted that the fentanyl consumption crisis in the U.S. remains a serious issue that both countries must address with urgency.
In a more conciliatory tone, AMLO emphasized the importance of maintaining a respectful relationship with the U.S.
He stressed that, despite differences, it is essential to preserve neighborly ties and cooperation.
