  • Chain stores Walgreens and Kroger remove thousands of bottles of aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen from their shelves across the country.
  • More than 400,000 bottles of medicine were taken off the market.
  • These medicines were sold until March 2022 throughout the country.

ALERT! Chain stores Walgreens and Kroger are recalling thousands of bottles of aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen from their shelves across the United States because they pose a risk, especially to children. They also warned that these drugs were sold until March 2022 throughout the country.

Recently, more than 400,000 bottles of medications, including aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen, were recalled across the United States because the packaging is deemed unsafe since the child-resistant safety mechanism on the cap was faulty.

This massive recall directly affected Walgreens and Kroger, as they have had to alert their buyers across the country about the dangers of the bottles of aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen that bear their brand and that were for sale in their stores until March 2022.

«RECALL: KROGER ASPIRIN 0004126001295, KROGER IBUPROFEN 0004126001298, KROGER ACETAMINOPHEN 0004126001284 and KROGER ACETAMINOPHEN 0004126001287,» Kroger warned on its official Twitter account regarding the defective products.

A RISK TO CHILDREN

The Kroger store chain also explained that «the recalled bottles don’t have child-resistant packaging,» which could pose a risk of poisoning, and announced that customers who have purchased these drugs can get a refund.

Actually, there is nothing wrong with the drug itself. However, the container bottles don’t meet child safety standards, so there is a risk that a child could open the container and take the medicine. This risk is reason enough to take the product off the market.

WHAT PRODUCTS WERE WITHDRAWN?

“The product packaging was not restrictive for children, posing a risk of poisoning if ingested by infants,” reported the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on the recall of more than 400,000 bottles of pain relievers from the Kroger and Walgreens brand.

In effect, Walgreens recalled 137,300 bottles of acetaminophen containing 150 Walgreens-brand 500-milligram pills. While Kroger recalled 209,430 bottles of 300-pill Kroger aspirin and 160-pill ibuprofen.

MASS DRUG RECALL

Kroger stores also recalled 34,660 100-tablet bottles of acetaminophen and 25,660 225-tablet bottles of acetaminophen for arthritis, Codelist said. In addition, two other types of Aurohealth brand acetaminophen were recalled.

«The products were available at various retailers across the country from July 2021 through March 2022,» the CPSC detailed. It is important for consumers to check to see if they have any of these products on the shelves at home, as they pose a safety risk to children. Remember that you can go to the place of purchase and request a refund.
