  • Urgent recall of aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen in the United States.
  • The three drugs are the main over-the-counter pain relievers in the US.
  • Nearly 400,000 bottles of pain killers pose a safety risk to children.

Be careful with OTC pain relievers! A frightening new recall. The three most commonly used pain killers in the US are being withdrawn from shelves because they may pose a risk to the public.

Aspirin, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen are some of the most common over-the-counter medications as all three reduce fever and relieve pain. However consumers should be careful as there are four separate recall orders regarding various brands of aspirin, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen, according to BGR.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), about 400,000 bottles of over-the-counter pain relievers are being reviewed as they pose a risk of poisoning.

But what exactly is this poisoning risk? In the case of these pain relievers, it is because the containers are not child-resistant and, therefore, do not meet the requirements of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act. Filed Under: Order recall of aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen

The CPSC published four warnings regarding product recalls on its website on June 16. The recalls include aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen from various brands that violate the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).

The main risk is that children can easily open the bottles and consume the medicines, which can lead to poisoning. Time-Cap Labs recalled 300-count containers of Kroger aspirin and 160-count ibuprofen that pose a poisoning risk. “The products were available at various retailers across the country from July 2021 through March 2022,” the CPSC announcement said. In addition, two types of Aurohealth brand acetaminophen were recalled. Aurohealth recalled nearly 137,300 150-count containers of Walgreens-brand acetaminophen. In addition, 25,660 Kroger-brand 225-unit bottles of acetaminophen were ordered to be recalled, and the Sun Pharma brand issued a recall of approximately 34,660 Kroger-brand 100-unit bottles of acetaminophen for the same risk, according to BGR.

The authorities indicated that consumers who have any of the aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen products included in the recall should keep them out of the reach of children since they represent a risk. However, it is not necessary to throw away the medicines since there is nothing wrong with chemical compounds. Filed Under: Order recall of aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen
