A peaceful morning in Trilla, Illinois, turned into tragedy after a fatal aviation accident.
Four people died when a small plane crashed in a rural field after colliding with power lines.
According to the Illinois State Police, the crash occurred Saturday morning, about 200 miles south of Chicago.
The aircraft involved was identified as a single-engine Cessna 180, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

Authorities reported that the plane struck power lines, causing debris to scatter along County Line Road.
The Coles County coroner confirmed that the aircraft was carrying two men and two women.

So far, the victims’ identities have not been made public.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the NTSB are leading the investigation.
An NTSB investigator is expected to arrive at the site of the plane crash in Trilla on Sunday to continue the inquiry, according to ABC News.
The wreckage will be moved to a secure facility for a more detailed inspection.
According to the NTSB, a preliminary report on the crash will be released within the next 30 days.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker issued a statement acknowledging the situation.
“Terrible news out of Coles County,” the governor said.
“Our thoughts are with those affected by this plane crash,” he added.
The community of Trilla, deeply shaken by this tragedy, remains awaiting further updates.
